Storyline for 'Blood Crime':

For burned-out Seattle cop Daniel Pruitt, a camping trip turns hellish when his wife, Jessica, is savagely attacked in the forest. En route to the hospital, the Pruitts collide with a semi, and Jessica identifies the driver as her assailant. Enraged, Pruitt pummels the man. Once at the ER, however, she changes her mind and names a male nurse as her attacker. But before Pruitt can make amends, he learns that his victim, the son of Sheriff Morgan McKenna, is dead. | The city has been harsh to Daniel Pruitt (Jonathan Schaech) and his wife, Jessica (Elizabeth Lackey), so they move to the country, away from the pressures of urban life. But when Jessica is assaulted there, their lives spin out of control once again, especially when Daniel kills a man Jessica claims was her attacker. Problem is, she thinks every guy is the one - and Daniel soon finds out the man he killed is the sheriff's (James Caan) son. | Originally made for television, Blood Crime is a standard crime thriller with a better-than-usual plot. Seattle detective Daniel Pruitt (Johnathon Schaech) goes out to the country with his wife Jessica (Elizabeth Lackey, Mulholland Drive), who is brutally attacked; hysterical, she accuses an innocent man, whom Pruitt beats severely. But when he finally contacts the local sheriff (James Caan, The Godfather, Misery), the beaten man turns up dead and turns out to be the sheriff's son. Now Pruitt has to find the real murderer before the evidence starts pointing to him. The script isn't subtle, and as a larger mystery unfolds, some elements of Blood Crime are a little too convenient but the tension between Pruitt and the sheriff remains surprisingly taut, the story zips along, and for the genre the character motivations are unusually plausible.
